How to report online crime

If you or someone else is in immediate danger or risk of harm, dial 999 now. The national reporting point for fraud in the UK is Action Fraud, you can submit reports to Action Fraud either online or by phone (0300 123 2040).

Your report will be sent for assessment by the National Fraud Investigation Bureau (NFIB) run by the City of London Police, the lead force for fraud in the United Kingdom. The NFIB’s systems assess reports of fraud and cyber crime from across the UK, helping to build a national picture of where fraud and cyber crime is taking place and how. Experts review the data from these reports to determine whether there is enough information to send cases to a police force for investigation. NFIB aims to send you an update in writing around 28 working days after you have made your fraud report to advise you what action has been taken.

FALCON (Fraud And Linked Crime ONline) was formed by the London Metropolitan Police in 2014 to support victim care for cyber crime. Their team of 300 officers is providing support to victims across London and FALCON has seconded 8 officers to LDSC for the purpose of protecting and supporting London's SME business community.

If you have become a victim of fraud, please submit a report to Action Fraud and get more information on incident management from Business Emergency Recovery Group (BERG) at Business in the Community (BITC). BERG is a network of businesses and organisations united in a desire to help businesses and communities across the UK to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies such as flooding, cyber-attacks and civil unrest. LDSC can also provide you with prevention information and intelligence to reduce likelihood of becoming a victim again in the future.
