25 July 2017 – Immediate Release
New Event to Help London Businesses to Prepare for Cyber Breach
London, UK – The London Digital Security Centre is inviting senior representatives from small to medium sized businesses across London to attend its ‘Cyber Crisis Simulation’ breakfast at the University of Greenwich, on Thursday 3 August from 10am to 12pm. The Cyber Crisis Simulation will be run by Cyber Rescue Ltd, which is one of the Centre’s carefully selected partners.
Reputations are ruined when businesses are unprepared for the consequences of a cyber breach; this extraordinary event will help businesses prepare for the day that happens so that they can act accordingly to mitigate disaster.
The simulation will be based on learnings from over 100 major data breaches and will cover the following topics:
- why shock and ambiguity are common responses in the Boardroom,
- where command and control systems are stressed after a major breach,
- who expects what, among regulators, customers, partners and police,
- how the exponential growth in cyber-attacks puts your job on the line,
- what to do today, to protect yourself from cyber-attacks of tomorrow.
There are an estimated one million SMEs operating in London and more than 1000 of those report being the victim of a cybercrime or fraud each month to ActionFraud. The DCMS Report (Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport) published in April 2017, found that just under half (46%) of all businesses identified at least one breach or attack in the last year and of those, 45% were micro or small businesses.
The event is part of a series organised by the London Digital Security Centre to help protect businesses, primarily micro to medium sized businesses, to operate in a secure digital environment.
Membership of the London Digital Security Centre is free of charge and one does not need to be a member in order to attend this event.

John Unsworth, Chief Executive for the London Digital Security Centre commented: “Small and medium sized businesses should not be fooled into thinking that criminals do not target them, or that they are safe from online vulnerabilities. If you hold data, you are a viable target!”
